Women's Lacrosse Tops Bridgeport in ECC Opener, 19-6

Rockville Centre, NY – The Molloy women's lacrosse teamed opened ECC play with a 19-6 win over the Bridgeport Purple Knights Saturday evening at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions improved to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while the Purple Knights fell to 1-1 overall and in league play.

How it Happened
  • The Lions netted the first seven goals of the game, led by two goals from junior Abbie Bellport, sophomore Nina Oddo, and senior Kaitlyn Meyer.
  • Ahead 7-1, Molloy tallied four straight goals.
  • Senior Alexa Adduci added a goal late in the first half, and the home team led 12-2 at the break.
  • Sophomore Alyssa Licata and graduate student Amanda Reyes netted two goals each to extend the advantage to 16-2.
  • Sophomore Haille Ross, Licata, and freshman Brooke DiFede added goals in the second half.
Top Performances
  • Bellport tallied a team-high six points (three goals and three assists).
  • Junior Megan Schiaffo (four assists) and Licata (four goals) recorded four points each.
  • Meyer, who tallied her first career multi-goal game, registered two goals and one assist.
  • Oddo, Reyes, and Adduci netted two goals apiece.
  • Freshman Hailey Dazzo caused three turnovers, picked up three ground balls, and added one goal.
  • Sophomore Joanna Mauceri controlled five draws, picked up three ground balls, and caused one turnover, and freshman Ryan Smith controlled five draws, caused two turnovers, and logged one ground ball.
  • Freshman Mary-Kate Sweeney tallied three saves.
