Rochester, N.Y. - The men's lacrosse team fell to Roberts Wesleyan College 15-7 this afternoon. The Lions fall to 1-6 on the year and 0-2 in East Coast Conference play while the Redhawks improve to 5-3 and 1-1 in ECC play.
How it Happened:
- Roberts Wesleyan struck first getting the first three goals of the game, but with less than four minutes to go in the first quarter, freshman attacker Jason Rebaudo found the back of the net to make it 3-1.
- The second quarter would be all Roberts Wesleyan as they knocked in four goals to take the lead at halftime, 7-1.
- The first eight minutes of the second half was all Molloy as graduate student midfielder Colin Kotarski scored on the man-up situation for his first goal of the season. Freshman midfielder Chris Delaney and Rebaudo also found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 7-4 midway through the second frame.
- The Redhawks scored four straight goals to go back up 11-4, but Delaney, along with a man-up goal from senior midfielder Jack Egan, saw the Redhawks cut to only 11-6 entering the fourth quarter.
- Two more goals from the Redhawks increased its lead to 13-6, but a man-down goal from Rebaudo helped the maroon and white tack on one more goal before eventually falling 15-7.
Key Performances:
- Rebaudo bagged another hat-trick this season with his three-goal performance while Delaney added two more of his own goals with Egan and Kotarski each adding in a goal.
- Freshman goalie Adam Hyman once again led the team in ground balls with four while graduate student midfielder Sean Daly and Delaney each had three in the contest. Hyman also contributed 15 saves in the contest, his third most all season.
- In the face-off circle, Delaney led the team with five face-off wins with sophomore defender Ryan O'Neil second in the contest with three wins of his own.
