Sparkill, N.Y. - The softball team returned to East Coast Conference play with a doubleheader sweep on Saint Thomas Aquinas College, 3-0 and 7-1. Molloy improved to 18-12 on the season and an even 6-6 in East Coast Conference play while STAC fell to 20-6 (14-4 ECC).
Game One: Molloy 3, STAC 0
- The Lions took an early 2-0 lead after the first inning. Sophomore Karsyn Eaton singled through the left side to set up senior Courtney Greene for a two-run home run to right center field.
- Sophomore Emma Bachman led off the seventh inning with a bunt single before being driven in by freshman Chrissie Huhn, who doubled to right center to put Molloy up, 3-0.
- Greene threw a complete-game one hitter, with the lone hit coming in the bottom of the seventh, while striking out four batters.
- Huhn, Eaton, and Greene each went 2-for-4 with Bachman and sophomore Grace Rende each recording hits.
Game Two: Molloy 7, STAC 1
- The Spartans struck first in the second game, taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single.
- The maroon and white responded in the top of the third on a triple from Huhn and RBI single from Greene.
- The Lions plated two more runs in the fourth inning with Rende driving in two with a single through the right side.
- Junior Amanda King increased the visitor's lead to 4-1 in the fifth inning with a solo home run to left center field.
- With two outs in the sixth inning, Bachman and Huhn tallied back-to-back singles. A double steal gave Molloy a 5-1 lead.
- Eaton drove in Huhn with a single in the next at bat before Greene made it 7-1 with a double.
- The Spartans' best scoring chance came in the fifth inning with the bases loaded and one out, but strong Molloy defense kept the damage at just one run on the contest for the home team.
- Huhn went 3-for-4 while Greene, King, and Rende tallied two hits. Greene and Rende each drove in two runs.
- Greene tossed her second complete game of the afternoon, striking out four batters.
