Men's Lacrosse Squanders Early Lead Against Walsh, 12-9

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The men's lacrosse team fell to Walsh University, 12-9 in the final home game of the 2021 campaign. Molloy fell to 3-7 this year while Walsh improved 4-6  This game also counted to the ECC-GMAC Cup standings, with the winning conference making a donation to Team IMPACT.

How it Happened

  • Molloy struck first scoring the first four goals of the game courtesy of a hat trick from freshman midfielder Chris Delaney and a goal from freshman attacker Michael Rodin on the man-up situation to go ahead 4-0 with 6:44 left in the first quarter.
  • Walsh scored five unanswered goals to go ahead 5-4 with 13 minutes left in the second quarter until Rodin found the back of the net again to knot the game at five with 4:15 left in the first half.
  • The third quarter would be a back-and-forth affair with Walsh scoring the first two goals, but senior midfielder Jack Egan found the back of the net to bring Molloy within one, 7-6, with 9:06 left in the quarter.
  • The fourth quarter started reverse of the third with Molloy scoring the first two goals courtesy of senior Jeff Hauser and Egan but the Cavaliers outscored Molloy 3-1 in the final five minutes to escape with a 12-9 victory in Rockville Centre.

Key Performers

  • Two Molloy players had hat tricks with Egan and Delaney each scoring three goals and Rodin netting two of his own. Hauser also nabbed one goal in the contest.
  • Defensively, graduate student midfielder Sean Daly led the maroon and white with three ground balls while freshman attacker Jason Rebaudo and junior defender Jordan Arbouet each caused two turnovers.
  • Freshman goalie Adam Hyman had another double-digit save campaign with 12 in the contest.

What's Next 
Molloy will be off for the next two weeks before they travel to Dobbs Ferry to face Mercy College at 3:00 p.m. on May 1 in the season finale.
