How it Happened
- Mercy came out of the gate fast, scoring the first two goals of the game, but the Lions answered with less than three minutes to go in the first quarter when senior midfielder Jack Egan found the back of the net to make it 2-1.
- Molloy started the second quarter with a bang when Egan found the back of the net again to tie the game. Mercy scored four straight goals to go up 6-2, but with time winding down once again, Molloy added a goal courtesy of freshman attacker Jason Rebaudo to cut the deficit to 6-3 with 2:52 remaining in the half. Mercy scored twice before the first half ended.
- The maroon and white struck first in the third quarter when graduate student midfielder Colin Kotarski buried one past Mercy goalie Tommy Umano to make it 8-4 with 12:32 left to play in the quarter.
- Molloy nabbed two more goals in the fourth quarter courtesy of senior midfielder Nick Del Giorno and Egan, but it was too little too late as Mercy came away with a 16-6 victory.
Key Performers
- Egan led all Molloy scorers today with a hat-trick while Rebaudo, Kotarski, and Del Giorno each chipped in one goal of their own. Kotarski and sophomore attacker Sean Plasencia also chipped in one assist a piece during the contest.
- On the defensive half of the field, freshman midfielder Chris Delaney led the way with three ground balls. Delaney, senior defender Sean Colbert, junior defender Jordan Arbouet, and freshman long stick midfielder Mikey Yearwood all caused one turnover during the contest.
- In his final regular season contest of the season, freshman goalie Adam Hyman put on another save clinic stopping 12 shots to continue his reign as ECC saves leader.
What's Next
Molloy qualified for the ECC Tournament and will face Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday (May 5) in Rochester, N.Y. Start time has yet to be announced.
