Frostburg, M.D. - The men's lacrosse team fell to the #18 Frostburg State University Bobcats, 21-4, in their first-ever meeting and first East Coast Conference game of the season. Molloy now sits at 1-5 and 0-1 in ECC play while #18 Frostburg State improved to 4-0 and 1-0 in ECC play.
How it Happened
- Frostburg State came out of the gate hot, scoring the first four goals of the game before freshman midfielder Chris Delaney scored the first goal for the Lions.
- After another pair of goals from the Bobcats, Delaney found the back of the net again to make it 6-2 with less than two minutes to go in the first quarter.
- Frostburg State scored one more in the first and four more in the second frame to go up 11-2 at the half. They added four more in the third quarter to increase the lead to 15-2 headed into the final 15 minutes.
- Molloy snapped its cold streak less than a minute into the fourth quarter when freshman attacker Michael Rodin nabbed the third goal of the game for the Lions thanks to an assist from senior midfielder Jack Egan.
- After two more goals from Frostburg State, sophomore attacker Sean Plasencia nabbed his eighth goal of the season when he beat Frostburg State's Kevin Reuther.
- Frostburg State added on four more goals before the final horn to finish the contest and win 21-4.
Key Performances
- Delaney, Rodin, and Plasencia all found the back of the net for the maroon and white with freshman attack/midfielder Jason Rebaudo and Egan each chipping in one assist.
- Freshman goalie Adam Hyman led the team in ground-balls with four while junior attacker Richie Polizzi Jr, freshman long stick midfielder Denver Tveter, and Plasencia each had three.
- Sophomore defender Ryan O'Neill was the team leader in caused turnovers with two and sophomore Thomas Mauro led the Lions with three face-off wins.
- In net, Hyman led the maroon and white with 19 saves and junior goalie James O'Grady also chipped in two saves once he entered the game.
