Rockville Centre, NY – The fourth-seeded Molloy women's basketball team defeated the fifth-seeded Mercy Mavericks, 62-47, in the East Coast Conference Championship play-in game Tuesday evening at Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions improved to 4-4, while the Mavericks fell to 1-8.

How it Happened

• With the game tied at four, the Lions netted six consecutive points, sparked by a three-pointer from junior Cameron Corbett, to go up 10-4.
• Molloy led 10-7 at the end of the first frame.
• Mercy opened the second stanza on an 8-0 rally to go ahead 15-10.
• The maroon and white responded with a 10-0 run, led by seven points from sophomore Trinity Hudson, and led 20-15 at the half.
• Ahead 22-19, Molloy scored nine straight points, led by five points by Safiyyah Lee, to extend its advantage to 31-19.
• Hudson hit a three in the final seconds of the third frame, and the home team led 44-29 at the end of 30 minutes of play.
• Hudson made a layup with 4:55 left to make it 56-36.

Top Performances

• Lee tallied a team-high 17 points, on 6-of-10 shooting.
• Hudson netted a career-high 15 points and shot 50 percent from the field.
• Senior Gabriella Aspuru scored 11 points, and Corbett added seven points.
