Amherst, N.Y. -  The fourth-seeded women's basketball team fell to top-seeded Daemen College, 52-42, in the East Coast Conference Tournament semi final this evening from Lumsden Gymnasium. Molloy concludes the season with a record of 4-5 while Daemen advances to 12-1 and will face #2 Roberts Wesleyan College in the Championship Final on Saturday (Mar. 6).


How it Happened

• The maroon and white opened the game on a 7-0 run. The home team would come within three, 12-9, after the first 10 minutes of action.
• Daemen netted the first seven points of the second quarter to take a four point lead, 16-12.
• Molloy trailed until the final seconds of the half after junior Cameron Corbett netted five points in the last two minutes to knot the score, 24-24 at the break.
• The maroon and white struck first with a jumper from senior Gabriella Aspuru in the third quarter, but the Wildcats responded with a 11-point run to go in front, 35-26. 
• The home team led, 41-32, after 30 minutes of action.
• The Lions would come within seven, 43-36, midway through the final quarter, but were unable to overcome the deficit from the third quarter, falling 52-42. 

Top Performances

• Aspuru topped all scorers with 15 points while adding three rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.
• Corbett reached double digits with 11 points while topping the team with four assists.
• Graduate student Safiyyah Lee and senior Morgan Staab each recorded eight points with Lee adding seven boards and Staab adding five.
