Flushing, N.Y. - The women's basketball team picked up its second-straight victory, topping the Knights of Queens College, 64-50, to improve to 5-5 on the season (2-1 East Coast Conference).
How it Happened
- Despite Queens scoring the first field goal of the game, the maroon and white took a six-point lead, 9-3, in the first seven minutes before leading 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.
- The Lions opened the second frame on a 12-1 run, including six points from graduate student Maya Thomas.
- Three-pointers from sophomore Trinity Hudson and freshman Janel Moore and a layup from graduate student Safiyyah Lee in the final four minutes of the half put the visitors in front, 34-13.
- Molloy netted four-straight layups in the third quarter to take its largest lead of the contest, 47-15, midway through the frame.
- The home team closed the gap to 26 headed into the final 10 minutes.
- Queens would spend the fourth quarter shooting .444 from the field to come within 14, 64-50, before time expired.
Top Performances
- Lee topped the Lions with 15 points and four blocks while adding five assists and eight rebounds.
- Thomas went 4-of-7 from three-point range for 14 points while adding a game-high four steals to go with eight rebounds, three assists, and one block.
- Hudson (13) and Moore (12) each also finished in double digits with Moore dishing out a career-high eight assists.Â
