Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team defeated the Adelphi Panthers, 71-63, Tuesday evening at Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions improved to 2-3, while the Panthers went to 1-3.
How it Happened
- The Panthers started the game on a 10-4 run.
- With the score 20-9, the Lions went on a 7-0 run, led by five points from graduate student Maya Thomas, and trailed 20-16 at the end of the first quarter.
- Down 25-19, Molloy went on an 11-0 rally, sparked by four points from graduate student Gabriella Aspuru, to take a 30-25 lead.
- The maroon and white led 36-34 at the half.
- The Panthers outscored the Lions 17-13 in the third frame and led 51-49 at the end of 30 minutes of play.
- Junior Morgan Staab hit a pair of free throws to put Molloy ahead, 57-55, with 6:42 left.
- The away team went up 63-60 with 3:25 left.
- The Lions ended the game on an 11-0 run, led by seven points from graduate student Saffiyah Lee.
Top Performances
- Lee netted a game-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.
- Thomas recorded 15 points, and sophomore Trinity Hudson added 10 points.
