Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The men's basketball team took the home floor for the first time this season, falling to the Chargers of the University of New Haven, 80-59. Molloy sits at 0-3 on the season while UNH improved to 3-0.
How It Happened
- Junior William Muller scored Molloy's first seven points, bringing the Lions within one, 8-7, with just over 15 minutes left in the first half.
- The Chargers went on a 10-0 scoring run over the next four minutes of game time, extending the lead to 11.
- The maroon and white went on an 8-0 scoring, featuring six points from freshman Darren Fergus, to trim the Charger lead to 11.
- New Haven led, 36-21, at the break.
- Redshirt sophomore Kendell Ogilvie began the second half with four consecutive points, closing the Lions deficit to eleven, 36-25.
- The road team went on a 10-2 scoring run, extending the lead to 18 with over 15 minutes remaining in the second half.
- Freshman Billy Reyes netted a three-pointer with 10:51 left on the scoreboard to bring Molloy within 16, 54-38, but that was as close as the Lions would come in the final 10 minutes of play.
- On the back of a .533 second half field goal percentage, New Haven led by as much as 29 in the final minutes en route to the 80-59 victory.
Top Performances
- Muller netted a game-high 14 points while added five rebounds.
- Ogilvie also reached double-digits, scoring 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field.
- Freshman Sey Dieng led the Lions under the glass, pulling down six rebounds.
- Fergus dished out a game-high four assists to go with eight points and five rebounds.
