Seaford, N.Y. – The Molloy field hockey team fell to the Stonehill Skyhawks, 2-0, this afternoon at Cedar Creek Park. The loss drops the Lions to 0-8 (0-6 NE10), while the Skyhawks improve to 10-2 (8-1 NE10).

How it happened
  • The two teams battled in the opening quarter with freshman Kelsey Price making two saves.

  • The backline of the Lions held strong, blocking two shots to keep the game scoreless.
  • The Skyhawks broke through in the second quarter scoring with under seven minutes to play in the half.
  • Junior midfielder Lizzie Weiner stopped several offensive attacks, clearing the zone ending the first half with the score, 1-0.
  • The road team would continue to pressure the Lions in the third quarter, but junior defenseman Carly Malico would not allow the lead to get past one, stopping several opportunities with great defense.
