Dalli Nets Third Goal in Field Hockey Loss Against Pace

Seaford, N.Y. – The field hockey team fell, 6-1, this afternoon at Cedar Creek Park. The loss drops the Lions to 0-7 (0-5 NE10), while the Setters improve to 7-5 (5-3 NE10).
 
How it happened
  • Both teams went back and forth in the opening quarter, Pace broke through on the scoreboard first, scoring with 56 seconds remaining.
  • The lead was short lived, as junior Kyra Dalli found the back of the net quickly in the second quarter to tie the game.
  • The away team went on a 2-0 scoring run to end the first half.
  • Molloy would open the second half with several scoring opportunities, junior Lizzie Weiner put two shots on net, that was saved by the Pace goalkeeper Grace Henderson.
  • Seconds later, Dalli had her second chance to score, but Henderson again, would keep the Lions off the scoreboard.
  • Freshman Kelsey Price kept the game close in the third, making four saves to keep the score at 3-1.
  • The Setters scored three goals in the fourth quarter to close the game, all coming from freshman Krista Dietz.
  • Price made her first collegiate start in net, making seven saves.

  • The Lions continue their home stand Saturday (Oct. 9) as they play host to Stonehill College. The game is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
