Staten Island, N.Y. – The #19 Molloy women's soccer team defeated the College of Staten Island Dolphins, 6-0, Saturday afternoon at Dolphin Soccer Park. The Lions improved to 14-2 overall and 7-1 in ECC play, while CSI fell to 3-13-1 overall and 2-5-1 in league play.

How it Happened

• The Lions jumped ahead 1-0 after senior Dana Poetzsch scored on a penalty kick in the eighth minute. 
• In the 32^nd minute, junior Sienna Nicolich took a pass from sophomore Sarah Tappeto and found the back of net.
• The maroon and white led 2-0 at the half.
• Molloy extended its advantage to 3-0 in the 46^th minute. Junior Lexi Verni scored on an assist from Poetzsch.
• In the 51^st minute, Tappeto set up a goal from sophomore Lindsey McCarthy to make it 4-0.
• Sophomore Eleni Sofroniou scored in the 82^nd minute, and sophomore Alessandra Borsellino tallied a goal in the 85^th minute to extend the advantage to 6-0.

Top Performances

• Poetzsch is second on the team in goals (6) and tied for the team lead in assists (4). The senior has tallied a goal in four of the last five matches.
•  Nicholich netted her third goal of the season.
• Verni found the back of the net for the 11^th time this season, which leads the ECC.
• McCarthy tallied her second goal of the season and the third of her career.
• Sofroniou scored her second goal of the season and the fourth of her career.
• Borsellino found the back of the net for the first time of her career, and Tapetto tallied two assists and is tied for the team lead (4).
• The Lions recorded their 11^th shutout of the season.
