Field Hockey Blanked at Adelphi

Garden City, N.Y. – The field hockey team fell to the Adelphi Panthers, 8-0, this afternoon at Motamed Field. The loss drops the Lions to 0-13 (0-11 NE10), while the Panthers improve to 11-5 (9-3 NE10).
 
How it Happened
  • Alexandra Docyk scored her first of two first quarter goals 2:45 into the opening stanza to put the home team ahead 1-0.
  • The Panthers would add two more goals to begin the game, taking a 4-0 lead into the second quarter.
  • The Molloy offense was neutralized in the first half, as the defense of the home team didn't allow a recorded shot.
  • Adelphi tallied three more goals in the second quarter taking a 7-0 lead at the half.
  • Marina Vlasto netted the eighth goal of the game for the Panthers in the third quarter.
  • Freshman Alexa Denis secured two scoring opportunities late in the third quarter off a penalty corner. Her first shot was saved by goalkeeper Amanda Montiel, and then she followed up on a rebound that was defensively saved by defender Kylie Peregoy.
  • Over a minute later junior Carly Malico took a shot that was blocked in front of the net.
  • Sophomore Ally Saigh began the game in goal, making three saves.
  • Freshman Kelsey Price relieved Saigh in the second quarter, adding five saves of her own.

  • The Lions continue their road trip when they travel to Manchester, N.H. Saturday (Oct. 30) to play Southern New Hampshire University. Game is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
