Waterbury, Conn. – The #19 Molloy women's soccer team topped the Post Eagles, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon at Lamoy Field. The Lions improved to 13-2 overall, while Post fell to 5-8-1 overall.

How it Happened

• Senior Dana Poetzsch scored on a penalty kick to make it 1-0 Lions in the fifth minute.
• Junior Lexi Verni found the back of the net to increase the Molloy advantage to 2-0 in the 27^th minute.
• Sophomore Eleni Sofroniou had a shot stopped in the 30^th minute.
• The maroon and white led 2-0 at the half.
• Post cut the Lions' lead to 2-1 in the 65^th minute.
• The Lions, who outshot the Eagles 11-2, looked to increase their lead, but Verni had a chance denied in the 65^th minute.
• Molloy didn't allow a shot in the final 25:55 of the match en route to the 2-1 victory.

Top Performances

• Poetzsch tallied her fifth goal of the season and has scored in three of the last four matches.
• Verni netted her 10^th goal of the season, which leads the ECC.
