#19 Women’s Soccer Clinches ECC Playoff Spot With 13-0 Win Over Lincoln

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The 19th-ranked Molloy women's soccer team secured its spot in the East Coast Conference Championship as they defeated the Lincoln (Pa.) Lions, 13-0, Saturday afternoon at Lincoln University Stadium. Molloy improved to 12-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play, while Lincoln fell to 0-10 overall and 0-6 in league play.
 
How It Happened
  • Molloy outshot Lincoln 42-3 and did not allow a single shot on goal.
  • The Lions netted five goals in the opening 12 minutes of the game, with two from senior Dana Poetzsch and one each from sophomores Erin Fogarty, Joanna Mauceri, and Lindsey McCarthy.
  • Fogarty scored her second of the game in the 23rd minute.
  • Freshman Nicole Fabris and sophomore Brenna Glover came off the bench and each tallied two goals in the final 20 minutes of the half.
  • Molloy was up 10-0 heading into the break.
  • Fogarty completed her hat trick in the 49th minute.
  • In the 73rd minute, junior Joanna Graca converted junior Emily Goetz's pass to make it 12-0.
  • Fabris wrapped up the afternoon with her third and Molloy's 13th goal in the 87th minute.
  • This was Molloy's second-biggest win in program history, only behind a 16-0 victory against The College of Old Westbury on October 1, 1997.
 
Top Performances
  • Fogarty and Fabris tallied their first goals of their careers with three apiece.
  • Poetzsch netted her third and fourth goals of the season.
  • Glover scored her second and third goals of the season.
  • Graca recorded her second goal and her team-high fourth assist of the season.
  • Mauceri scored her first goal of the season and her first career points.
  • McCarthy netted her first goal of the season and the second of her career.
  • Sophomore Sarah Tappeto registered her second assist of the season.
  • Goetz recorded her first assist of the season and her second point in her career.
  • Sophomore Eleni Sofroniou tallied her first career assist and third point of the season.
  • Senior Jackie Carty and sophomore Shannon Kilian combined for Molloy's 10th shutout of the season. This was also Kilian's first appearance for the Lions.
