The Lions improved to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in ECC play, while the Mavericks fell to 6-2-4 overall and 5-1 in league play.

How It Happened

  • In the 39th minute, junior Lexi Verni's close-range effort struck the crossbar, and the follow-up strike from Poetzsch sailed over the bar.
  • The match was scoreless heading into the break.
  • 10 minutes into the second half, the Lions took the lead through Verni after she dispossessed a Mercy defender on the near side and snuck it in from a very tight angle.
  • Molloy was reduced to 10 players in the 64th minute after senior Carli Fonseca picked up her second yellow card of the game.
  • In the 79th minute, sophomore Lindsey McCarthy's header in the box was tipped up and caught by Torres.
  • Senior Jackie Carty made a big stop to deny the Mavericks in the 85th minute.
