Washington, D.C. - The men's basketball season concluded in the semifinal round of the East Coast Conference Championship against the top-seeded University of Bridgeport, 119-88. The Lions finish the 2019-20 campaign with a 12-17 record.
How it Happened
- The Purple Knights jumped out to an early 20-8 lead after the opening five minutes of play.
- Bridgeport shot a red hot 77.42 percent from the field in the first half, leading by as much as 28 points before senior Nick Corbett sunk a three-pointer in the final seconds of the opening half to set the score at 66-41 at the break.
- The maroon and white came out of the locker room shooting, as sophomore Frankie Phelan sinking a three-pointer in the opening minutes.
- The Lions were unable to overcome the early deficit against strong UB defense, which prevented the team from putting together a run greater than five points.Â
Top Performances
- Senior Nick Corbett led the Lions with 16 points and three steals while adding four assists.
- Junior Steven Torre added 13 points and four assists.
- Freshman James Montgomery and sophomore William Muller each netted 12 points in th effort.
- Senior Josh Dennis led the team with six rebounds and six assists to go with nine points.Â
