Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team fell to the Clarion Golden Eagles, 5-4, Saturday in the DII Challenge vs. Cancer at the USA Baseball Training Complex. The Lions moved to 6-4, while the Golden Eagles improved to 3-10. 

How it Happened

• Junior Matt Overton blasted an RBI double to left center to make it 1-0 in the third.
• Molloy plated three runs in the fourth to take a 4-0 advantage. Junior Peter Theodorellis and senior Sean Hogan hit RBI singles. Later in the frame, Theodorellis scored on a wild pitch to conclude the rally.
• Clarion scored one run in the bottom of the fourth and two runs in the sixth to cut the maroon and white's lead to 4-3.
• The Golden Eagles tallied two runs in the ninth to secure a 5-4 victory.

Top Performances

• Hogan tallied four hits, drove in one run, and scored one run.
• Theodorellis increased his hitting streak to 10 games and is tied with Hogan for the team lead in hits (17).
• Overton went 1-for-2 with one RBI and three walks.
• Senior Joe Minucci struck out eight batters in six innings pitched.
