Weber Nets Seven Goals in Women's Lacrosse Victory Over Caldwell, 22-8

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The women's lacrosse team topped the Cougars of Caldwell University, 22-8, this afternoon at the Rockville Centre Sports Complex. The Lions improved to 2-2 on the season with the victory.

How it Happened
  • The Cougars struck first, taking a 1-0 lead after four minutes of play.
  • The maroon and white responded by netting the next five markers to take a 5-1 lead.
  • Caldwell broke the streak, scoring two of the next three goals to set the score at 6-3.
  • In front 8-4, the Lions ended the first half of play on three-straight goals from sophomore Abbie Bellport and one from freshman Amanda Weber to increase its lead to 12-5 at the break.
  • The Cougars would come within six, 13-7, early in the second half.
  • Molloy scored six-straight goals to take a 19-7 lead with 16 minutes left in the game.
  • The Cougars netted one goal in the final 10 minutes before Molloy earned the 22-9 victory.

Top Performances
  • Weber led all scorers with seven points on seven goals while adding 10 draw controls, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers.
  • Freshman Haille Ross dished out five assists for five points while Bellport added four goals and one assist. Junior Alexa Adduci also tallied five points (two goals, three assists) while leading the team with six ground balls.
  • Senior Amanda Reyes netted four goals while junior Kaitlyn Meyer added three assists.
  • Sophomore Kara Rosenberg and freshman Alyssa Licata each scored twice while sophomore Megan Schiaffo and seniors Shannon Atwell and Nora Miller picking up assists.
  • Junior Alyssa Zangari rounded out Molloy's scoring with one goal.
  • Meyer topped the Lions with five caused turnovers.
