Softball Drops Two in Final Day at FIT Classic

Viera, Fla. - The softball team concluded its season-opening tournament, the FIT Classic, hosted by Florida Tech at the USSSA Space Coast Complex. Molloy opened the season 0-5. 


Game One: Palm Beach Atlantc 1, Molloy 0
  • The maroon and white had runners in scoring position in the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.
  • Freshman Stephanie Conrade singled to start the bottom of the fourth, moving to second on a single from sophomore Alex Burns.
  • Molloy also had a lead-off single in the fifth inning off the bat of redshirt junior Mikaela Tribby. Pinch runner freshman Grace Rende advanced on a ground out from sophomore Adriana Saab.
  • Junior Courtney Greene doubled in the sixth inning. 
  • Saab was hit by a pitch before a pinch runner in sophomore Marissa Nicoletti was advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from freshman Emma Bachman
  • The Lions were unable to plate a run in any of the four opportunities.
  • Greene and Katherine Budnovich each kept the contest scoreless, forcing extra innings, which began with a runner placed on second base.
  • The Sailfish led off with a sacrifice bunt to move its runner to third before scoring the game's only run on an error in left field to win the game.
  • Grreene struck out five batters through eight innings of work, allowing no earned runs. 

Game Two: Molloy 0, Florida Southern 8 (Five Innings)
  • The Mocs led 2-0 after two innings of play on a solo home run in the first and an RBI single in the second.
  • The home team then plated six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, causing the contest to end via the run rule.
  • Sophomore Amanda King and junior Tonianne Larson each fanned one batter.

The Lions are slated to open the home portion of the schedule on Mar. 10 against Felician at 3:30 p.m.
