Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The softball team split a doubleheader with Felician University in the opening home contests of the 2020 campaign from Bob Klein Field at the Rockville Centre Sports Complex. The Lions sit at 1-6 after the contests.
Game 1: Molloy 8, Felician 3
· The Falcons broke the game's scoreless streak in the third inning after a three-run double from Jackie Ribaudo.
· The Lions responded by plating three runs in the bottom half of the inning on a double from freshman Karsyn Eaton and sophomore Amanda King's first career home run to knot the score.
· The maroon and white's offense continued in the fourth, as freshmen Steph Conrade and Grace Eaton scored after an error from the Golden Falcons' defense.
· The bases were loaded in the fifth inning after a single from redshirt junior Mikaela Tribby, a walk to King, and a single to junior Megan McCormack. A ground out from freshman Akemi Poyer plated Serrano to set the score at 6-3.
· King scored following a ground out from sophomore Adriana Saab.
· The Lions rounded out the scoring in the sixth inning with an RBI double from Tribby.
· Eaton, Tribby, and Conrade each recorded two hits while Eaton, Conrade, and King scored two runs.
· Junior Courtney Greene picked up her first win of the season with a complete g ame, striking out three.
Game Two: Felician 8, Molloy 6
· The Golden Falcons got on the board early off a solo home run from Nicole Spiegelberg in the first inning.
· A ground out in the third inning scored another run for Felician, setting the score at 2-0.
· The Molloy offense exploded in the fifth inning. A triple from Rende set up an RBI single over the third baseman's head for Conrade.
· The left fielder was plated following an error by Felician's left fielder.
· A single from Tribby and home run from McCormack gave the maroon and white a 5-2 lead heading into the final two innings.
· The visitors worked the bases full in the top of the sixth inning, scoring on a wild pitch to come within two, 5-3.
· An error and a grand slam from Spiegelberg put the Golden Falcons in front, 8-5.
· The Lions regained a run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double to the center field fence from Eaton.
· A walk to Greene in a pinch hit opportunity loaded the bases for the maroon and white in the home half of the seventh inning with just one out.
· The Lions were unable to plate the run, falling 8-6.
· Conrade, Tribby, and Ramos each recorded two hits while McCormack drove in two runs.
· King struck out seven in the effort.
Molloy returns to action at the PFX Spring Games in Winter Haven, Fla. on Friday (Mar. 13) in a doubleheader with Stonehill beginning at 2:45 p.m.
