Viera, Fla. - The softball team competed in the second day of the Florida Tech Classic, falling to West Alabama and #18 Alabama-Huntsville.
Game One: West Alabama 7, Molloy 5
- The Lions got on the board in the first inning. Freshman Steph Conrade bunted herself to first base, scoring on a double from junior Courtney Greene.Â
- A double from freshman Karsyn Eaton plated Conrade.Â
- Eaton advanced on a passed ball before scoring on a wild pitch to set the score at 3-0 after the first inning.Â
- The score remained 3-0 through the first three innings before the maroon and white added two runs in the fourth inning.
- Eaton reached on an error before reaching second on a bunt single from freshman Emma Bachman.Â
- Redshirt junior Mikaela Tribby plated both runs with a double down the left field line.Â
- West Alabama scored two runs in the fifth inning on a double and an RBI ground out.
- The Tigers added another three runs in the sixth to knot the score before plating two runs in the seventh to win 7-5.Â
- Greene went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Eaton went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
- Tribby led with two RBI.
- Freshman Amanda King struck out two in the loss.
Game Two: Molloy 0, Alabama-Huntsville 8
- Molloy trailed 3-0 after the first inning.
- A single from Eaton led off the second inning, but the Lions were unable to plate a run.Â
- UAH added one run in the second and three in the third to take a 7-0 lead.
- The home team added an additional run in the sixth to end the contest via the run rule.
- Greene struck out one through 5.2 innings of work.
The maroon and white will conclude the opening tournament tomorrow (Feb. 9) against Palm Beach Atlantic and Florida Southern at 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively.Â
