Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team topped the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 63-47, Saturday afternoon at Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions improved to 15-7 overall and 7-4 in ECC play, while the Firebirds fell to 7-15 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

How it Happened

• The Lions jumped out to a 7-2 advantage, led by four points from junior Gabriella Aspuru.
• With the score 13-11, Molloy scored six straight points, sparked by three from sophomore Katie Marquardt, and led 19-11 after the first frame.
• After graduate student Robyn Francis made a three, UDC tallied five straight points to make it a 26-21 game.
• The maroon and white ended the half on a 6-0 rally, led by four points from Aspuru, and led 32-21 at the break.
• Ahead 33-23, the Lions scored seven consecutive points to extend their lead to 40-23.
• Molloy led 50-40 after 30 minutes of play.
• The home team outscored the visitors 13-7 in the fourth quarter en route to a 63-47.

Top Performances

• Aspuru tallied a game-high 18 points, on 6-of-9 shooting, and eight rebounds.
• Graduate student Kadijah Dickson netted 15 points, on 5-of-10 shooting.
• Junior Marthe Guirand and senior Jenna Silletti added seven points.
