Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team was defeated by the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans, 59-53, Wednesday at Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions moved 14-8 overall and 6-4 in ECC play, while the Spartans improved to 18-3 overall and 10-0 in league play.

How it Happened

• STAC jumped out to an early 11-4 lead.
• Molloy went on a 10-2 run, sparked by four points from juniors Gabriella Aspuru and Marthe Guirand, to go ahead 14-13.
• The Spartans led 15-14 after the first stanza.
• The away team extended its lead to 25-19 with 3:16 left in the first half and led 27-22 at the break.
• St. Thomas extended its advantage to 36-25 with 5:22 left in the third frame.
• Down 41-33, Guirand netted the final four points of the quarter, and the Lions trailed 41-37 after 30 minutes of play.
• Senior Jenna Silletti started the fourth with a jumper to cut the Spartans' lead to 41-39.
• STAC led 57-48 with 44 seconds remaining.
• Graduate student Robyn Francis made a three-pointer to make it a 57-53 contest with 11 seconds left, but that was as close as Molloy would get.

Top Performances

• Guirand tallied a team-high 16 points, on 7-of-10 shooting, and 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.
• Graduate student Kadijah Dickson recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the year.
• Aspuru added 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
