Baseball Slips to Le Moyne, 6-5

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Molloy baseball team fell to the Le Moyne Dolphins, 6-5, Sunday at the Ripken Experience. The Lions moved to 2-2, while the Dolphins moved to 5-3.

How it Happened
  • Senior Sean Hogan hit an RBI double to center to put the Lions ahead 1-0 in the third. Later in the frame, junior Matt Overton laced an RBI triple to center field to increase the lead to 2-0.
  • The Dolphins jumped ahead, 4-2, with four runs in the fourth.
  • Junior Jake McCarthy blasted a solo home run to right in the seventh to make it a 4-3 contest.
  • Le Moyne plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh to increase its lead to 6-3.
  • In the eighth, sophomore Chris Peralta lined a two-run triple to left to cut the Dolphins' advantage to 6-5.
Top Performances
  • Overton tallied three hits, drove in one run, and scored one run.
  • Peralta recorded two hits and two RBIs, and Hogan registered two hits and one RBI.
  • McCarthy hit his first home run of the season.
  • Redshirt senior Timothy Panetta struck out five batters in six innings pitched.
