Garden City, N.Y. – The Molloy women's lacrosse team fell to the #1 Adelphi Panthers, 17-7, in its season-opener Saturday afternoon at Motamed Field. The Lions moved to 0-1, while the Panthers moved to 1-0.

How it Happened

• The Panthers netted the first two goals of the contest.
• Freshman Amanda Weber found the back of the net to make it a 2-1 game.
• Adelphi scored the next seven goals to increase its advantage to 9-1.
• Sophomore Kara Rosenberg and Weber tallied the next two goals to cut the home team's lead to 9-3.
• The Panthers led 13-3 at the half.
• Weber recorded three goals, and sophomore Abbie Bellport added a tally in the second half.

Top Performances

• Weber netted five goals and controlled seven draws in her collegiate debut.
• Bellport (one goal and one assist) and sophomore Megan Schiaffo (two assists) tallied two points each.
• Rosenberg registered her first goal of the year, and senior Nora Miller, and freshmen Alyssa Licata and Haille Ross recorded one assist.
• Senior Molly VanDusen picked up three ground balls and caused three turnovers, junior Kaitlyn Meyer caused three turnovers and picked up two ground balls, and freshman Olivia Vail scooped up three ground balls.
• Junior Allie Long made 10 saves.
