Bridgeport, Conn. – The Molloy women's basketball team topped the Bridgeport Purple Knights, 66-43, Wednesday evening at Hubbell Gym. The Lions improved to 12-5 overall and 4-1 in ECC play, while the Purple Knights fell to 4-13 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

How it Happened

• The Lions started the game on a 14-4 run, led by six points from senior Kathryn Gibson and four points from junior Marthe Guirand, and led 16-8 after the first stanza.
• The Purple Knights made it a 17-14 contest with 8:07 left in the second frame.
• Graduate student Robyn Francis hit a pair of triples to increase Molloy's advantage to 23-14.
• Senior Kadijah Dickson made a jump shot to make it a 26-16 game.
• With the score 28-21, Dickson made a basket and Gibson made a three to give the maroon and white a 33-21 lead at the break.
• After Bridgeport netted the first basket of the second half, the Lions went on a 9-0 rally, sparked by four points from Dickson and three from Guirand, to extend their lead to 42-23.
• Guirand hit a free throw to put the away team ahead 48-28, and Molloy led 52-34 after 30 minutes of play.
• The Lions opened the final frame on an 8-2 run, led by four points from junior Morgan Staab, to go ahead 60-36 en route to a 66-43 victory.

Top Performances

• Gibson, who shot 5-of-6 from the field and 4-of-5 from three, netted a game-high 16 points.
• Dickson tallied 12 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
• Guirand recorded 10 points, and junior Gabriella Aspuru added nine points.
