Sparkill, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team fell to the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans, 72-64, Saturday afternoon at Aquinas Hall. The Lions moved to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in ECC play, while the Spartans improved to 12-3 overall and 4-0 in league play.

How it Happened

• The Lions jumped out to an 8-6 advantage, led by three-pointers from junior Giolibeth Perez and senior Kathryn Gibson.
• The Spartans closed the opening frame on a 12-2 run and led 18-10 after the first quarter.
• STAC extended its lead to 35-17 with 2:34 left in the second frame.
• Junior Gabriella Aspuru hit a pair of free throws and junior Mackenzie Burke made a three to cut the home team's lead to 35-22 at the break.
• Molloy started the third quarter on a 17-4 rally, sparked by nine points from Aspuru, to knot the game at 39.
• STAC led 50-48 after 30 minutes of play.
• Down 60-56, Gibson made a triple to cut the Spartans' advantage to 60-59 with 3:47 left.
• The home team went on an 8-1 run to increase its lead to 68-60 on its way to a 72-64 victory.

Top Performances

• Aspuru netted a game-high 20 points, on 8-of-13 shooting.
• Junior Marthe Guirand tallied a season-high 13 points, and graduate student Kadijah Dickson added 10 points and eight rebounds.
