Women's Soccer Blanks Dominican, 3-0

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's soccer team defeated the Dominican Chargers, 3-0, Wednesday evening at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions, who have won four straight matches, improved to 5-1-1, while the Chargers fell to 2-5.

How it Happened
  • Junior Dana Poetzsch received a feed from junior Lexi Verni and scored on a fast break to put Molloy ahead 1-0 in the second minute.
  • In the 10th minute, Poetzsch netted a goal, on a pass from Verni, to make it 2-0.
  • Molloy, which outshot Dominican 8-2 in the first half, led 2-0 at the break.
  • Junior Lauren Marinello found the back of the net from 20 yards out in the 73rd minute to increase the home team's advantage to 3-0.
Top Performances
  • Poetzsch tallied two goals and has scored two or more goals in the last three contests. The junior leads the team in goals (10), assists (3), and points (23).
  • Verni registered her first two assists of 2019.
  • Marinello netted her third goal of the season.
  • Junior Jackie Carty made two saves in her fourth shutout of the year.
