Lakewood, N.J. – The Molloy women's soccer team defeated the Georgian Court Lions, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at Investor Bank Field. The Lions improved to 2-1-1, while Georgian Court moved to 1-2.

How it Happened

• Molloy applied pressure in the offensive-third early. After junior Dana Poetzsch rang a shot off the crossbar, sophomore Lexi Verni scored on the rebound to make it 1-0 in the first minute.
• Georgian Court looked to respond after the maroon and white goal. Junior Jackie Carty made five saves in the first half to keep the away team ahead after 45 minutes of play.
• The home team knotted the match in the 56^th minute on a goal from Krystal Hund.
• The maroon and white took the lead, 2-1,  in the 85^th minute. Poetzsch was denied on a penalty kick, but junior Lauren Marinello put the rebound into the back of the net.
• Poetzsch scored on a breakaway in the 90^th minute to increase the Lions' advantage to 3-1.

Top Performances

• Verni and Marinello tallied their first goals of the season.
• Poetzsch netted her third goal of the year and leads the team with six points.
• Carty made seven saves in the victory.
