Albany, N.Y. – The Molloy women's soccer team fell to the #16 Saint Rose Golden Knights, 2-1, Wednesday evening at Sullivan Field. The Lions moved to 1-1-1, while the Golden Knights improved to 3-0.

How it Happened

• Olivia Boucher opened the scoring for Saint Rose in the eighth minute.
• After the goal, Molloy, which outshot the Golden Knights 5-4 in the first stanza, generated three of the contest's next four shots.
• The Lions looked to even the score in the 45^th minute, but sophomore Lexi Verni's try was stopped.
• After making a run and getting fouled in the box, sophomore Dana Poetzsch converted a penalty kick to even the score, 1-1.
• Luisa Gaudi scored on a rebound to put the home team ahead, 2-1, in the 82^nd minute.
• Molloy recorded the next three shots, led by two from Verni and one by junior Lauren Marinello, in the 83^rd, 84^th, and 85^th minutes.
• The maroon and white earned three corner kicks in the final minute of play, but couldn't tie the match.

Top Performances

• Poetzsch, who leads the team in scoring, netted her second goal of the season.
• Poetzsch and Verni led the team with five shots each.
• Marinello logged two shots.
• Junior Jackie Carty made five saves.

Coach's Comments 

• "The girls played great," head coach Steve Price said. "I thought  we deserved more from the game, but that's soccer."
