Uniondale, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team defeated the Mercy Mavericks, 3-2, Friday afternoon at Mitchel Field. The Lions improved to 14-27 overall and 11-14 in ECC play. Mercy fell to 21-24-1 overall and 13-12 in conference play.

How it Happened

• Junior Sean Hogan put the Lions ahead 1-0 with an RBI single through the right side in the fourth.
• In the fifth, Hogan hit a two-RBI single to increase Molloy's lead to 3-0.
• Mercy plated two runs in the eighth, but the home team was able to hold on for a 3-2 victory.

Top Performances

• Hogan, who extended his hitting streak to 17 games, tallied three RBIs and two hits.
• Junior Jake Saltzman collected two hits and scored one run.
• Freshman Chris Peralta recorded one hit.
• Redshirt junior Timothy Panetta threw 7.1 innings and struck out six batters to improve to 5-5 on the season.
• Senior James Murphy recorded the final five outs of the game to pick up his second save of the year.

• The maroon and white travels to play Mercy tomorrow, May 4. The first game of the doubleheader with the Mavericks is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
