Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Edged by #24 NYIT, 13-12

Old Westbury, N.Y. – The Molloy women's lacrosse team fell to the #24 NYIT Bears, 13-12, Saturday afternoon at President's Stadium. The Lions moved to 8-6 overall and 2-3 in ECC play.  The Bears improved to 8-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

How it Happened
  • The Bears scored four of the contest's first five goals to take a 4-1 lead.
  • Molloy netted two of the game's next three goals on tallies from junior Amanda Reyes and senior Brianna Wilson.
  • NYIT scored next to make it 6-3.
  • Freshman Kara Rosenberg and sophomore Kaitlyn Meyer recorded the next two goals to cut the home team's advantage to 6-5.
  • The Bears netted the next goal.
  • Rosenberg found the back of the net to make it a one-goal game, 7-6.
  • NYIT led 8-6 at the half.
  • Senior Casie Caiazza tallied the first goal of the second half to make it an 8-7 game.
  • With the score 9-8, the Bears went on a 4-1 rally to extend their lead to 13-9.
  • Caiazza, Wilson, and Rosenberg netted the next three goals to cut the hosts' lead to 13-12, but that was as close as the Lions would get.
Top Performances
  • Caiazza tallied a team-high five points (three goals and two assists).
  • Rosenberg netted four goals, and Wilson registered four points (three goals and one assist).
  • Senior Michaela Siegler and redshirt senior Ali Pfeifer recorded two assists each.
  • Junior Shannon Atwell caused one turnover and picked up seven ground balls.
  • Sophomore Allie Long made 11 saves.
Looking Ahead
  • The maroon and white travels to Queens Wednesday,  April 10. The game with the Knights is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
