Brookville, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team fell to the LIU Post Pioneers, 9-7, Tuesday afternoon at the LIU Post Baseball Field. The Lions moved to 11-24 overall and 8-12 in ECC play. The Pioneers improved to 27-12 overall and 18-2 in league play.

How it Happened

• The Pioneers scored three runs in the first to jump ahead 3-0.
• The Lions responded with a four-run third to take a 4-3 advantage. Junior James Messina hit an RBI single to make it 3-1. Freshman Chris Peralta tallied an RBI double, and junior Sean Hogan and sophomore Matt Overton recorded RBI singles to put Molloy ahead.
• Messina blasted a two-run home run to left in the fourth to increase the maroon and white's lead to 6-3.
• LIU Post plated three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 9-6 lead.
• Hogan added an RBI single to cut the advantage to 9-7 in the ninth, but that was as close as the Lions would get.

Top Performances

• Messina drove in three runs, scored three runs, and collected three hits.
• Hogan, who increased his hitting streak to 11 games, tallied three hits, two RBIs, and scored one run.
• Senior Ryan Hensley logged three hits and scored two runs.
