Offense Rallies for 18 Hits to Earn Split at Pace

Pleasantville, N.Y. - The softball team traveled out of conference play to face the Setters of Pace University. After being held scoreless in the first game, each member of the maroon and white's offense tallied at least one hit in the second game, totaling a season-high 18 in the effort. The Lions now sit at 11-18 on the season.

Game 1: Molloy 0, Pace 1
  • The Setters scored the contest's lone run on a throwing error by the Molloy defense in the bottom of the first inning.
  • The Lions' best scoring chance came with the bases loaded in the second inning, but were unable to plate a run.
  • Sophomores Courtney Greene and Sarah Glaser and freshmen Adriana Saab and Marissa Nicoletti recorded the lone hits for the maroon and white.
  • Greene struck out four batters and allowed six hits through six innings in the loss.

Game 2: Molloy 10, Pace 4
  • Freshman Alex Burns led off the second game with an infield single before being driven home on a single to right field by redshirt sophomore Mikaela Tribby.
  • A two-run home run put the home team in front 2-1 after the first inning.
  • Molloy tied the score with a double from freshman Angelique Serrano before taking a 3-2 lead when the short stop was driven in by a single from Burns.
  • Serrano reached on a fielder's choice in the third inning, scoring Nicoletti to set the score at 4-2.
  • The Setters came within one in the home half of the inning on an RBI double.
  • The Lions added two more runs in the fourth inning on an RBI double from Greene and an RBI single from Tribby.
  • The score remained 6-3 until the maroon and white plated four runs in the top of the seventh including RBIs from senior Kaitlyn Snyder and freshman Amanda King to set the score at 10-3.
  • Pace scored on a single in the home half of the inning to round the score out at 10-4.
  • Tribby led with four hits, going 4-for-5 with 2 RBI while King (3-for-4) and Serrano (2-for-3) also drove in two runs.
  • Burns, Snyder, and Greene each recorded two hits and drove in one run for the Lions.
  • Turato struck out three batters in the victory, tossing 6.1 innings to improve to 8-6.

The maroon and white return to Bob Klein Field on Thursday (Apr. 4) against New York Institute of Technology at 3:00 p.m.
