Old Westbury, N.Y. - After being held hitless in the first game of a doubleheader, the softball team responded with 11 hits for a 6-3 victory, splitting both the doubleheader and the season series with the Bears of New York Institute of Technology. The Lions now sit at 16-25 on the season and 6-10 in East Coast Conference play.
Game 1: Molloy 0, NYIT 8 (6 innings)
- The contest remained scoreless after three innings of play before the Bears scored the first run in the fourth inning.
- NYIT took a 4-0 advantage in the fifth inning before doubling its lead in the sixth inning, forcing the mercy rule.
- Freshman Alex Burns served as Molloy's lone base runner in the contest, drawing a walk to start the contest.
- Sophomore Courtney Greene struck out one batter in the loss.
Game 2: Molloy 6, NYIT 3
- The maroon and white regrouped for the second game, taking a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Singles from freshmen Marissa Nicoletti and Lauren Ramos paired with fielder's choices from sophomore Sarah Glaser and redshirt sophmore Mikaela Tribby set up freshman Adraiana Saab for a bases loaded walk to take the lead.
- The Bears knotted the score in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run.
- Greene led off the top of the third with a double to left, scoring on a single from freshman Amanda King.
- The rookie scored on a single from Nicoletti, giving Molloy a 3-1 lead. The Lions added another run on a single by Ramos through the right side.
- Tribby singled to center in the top of the fifth, plating two more runs to put the maroon and white in front, 6-1.
- NYIT scored two runs in the seventh, but Molloy was able to maintain its advantage for the victory.
- Greene, King, Nicoletti, and Ramos each recorded two hits with Tribby driving in two runs.
- Senior Jenna Turato fanned four batters in the compete game effort.
