Miami Shores, Fla. - The baseball team continued its appearance at the Barry Invitational against the host Buccaneers, falling 8-1 at Feinbloom Field. 

How it Happened

• The Lions struck first, scoring the team's lone run in the top of the second inning. 
• Junior Jake Saltzman singled to center field and then stole second base. He was driven in two batters later on an RBI single to center by senior James Messina.
•  Barry knotted the score in the bottom of the third on an RBI single through the right side.
• A five-run fifth inning gave the Buccaneers a 6-1 lead.
• The home team plated one run in both the seventh and eighth inning to set the score at 8-1. 

Top Performances

• Saltzman tallied two hits for the maroon and white, going 2-of-3 with a run scored and a stolen base. 
• Messina, sophomore Matt Overton, junior Sean Hogan, and redshirt freshman Thomas Brady each added hits.
• Sophomore Billy Wildeman tossed three innings in the loss. Senior Anthony Pedraita struck out three batters.

The Lions return to the field tomorrow (Mar. 10) against Adelphi University at 1:00 p.m.
