Rosenberg Tallies Career-High Six Points in Loss to #9 LIU Post

Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's lacrosse team fell to the #9 LIU Post Pioneers, 20-11, Wednesday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. The Lions fell to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in ECC play. The Pioneers improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in league play.

How it Happened
  • The Pioneers scored the first two goals of the contest.
  • Freshman Kara Rosenberg scored to make it 2-1.
  • With LIU Post ahead 4-1, junior Amanda Reyes scored to cut the Pioneers' advantage to 4-2.
  • The away team netted the next three goals to extend its lead to 7-2.
  • Rosenberg tallied a goal to make it a 7-3 game.
  • The Pioneers went on a 4-0 run to go up 11-3.
  • Rosenberg and Reyes scored back-to-back goals to cut the lead 11-5.
  • Senior Brianna Wilson added a goal in the first half for the maroon and white, which trailed 14-6 at the break.
  • Post netted the first three goals of the second stanza.
  • Wilson followed with two goals to make it a 16-8 contest.
  • Down 18-8, redshirt senior Ali Pfeifer, Rosenberg, and Wilson scored three of the game's last five goals.
Top Performances
  • Rosenberg tallied a career-high six points (four goals and two assists).
  • Wilson netted four goals.
  • Reyes scored two goals, and Pfeifer recorded two points (one goal and one assist).
  • Senior Emily Bauer picked up three ground balls. 
Coach's Comments
  • "When you play a team like Post, you need to minimize your mistakes and today, we didn't execute very cleanly," head coach Tom Campolettano said. "We have two more games this week and we have to be ready to play."
Looking Ahead
  • The maroon and white hosts Caldwell Friday, March 22. The game with the Cougars is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.  at John A. Darcy Field.
