Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The softball team hung on to win the second game of a doubleheader against local rival Adelphi University, splitting the series with the Panthers. The Lions sit at 8-13 on the season after this evening's contest at Bob Klein Field.
Game 1: Molloy 1, Adelphi 4
- After three scoreless innings, the Panthers scored on a two RBI triple by Ashley Lombardi.
- Kailah Konkel added a third run with a double down the left field line.
- Senior Tara Byrnes drew a walk in the bottom of the fifth inning, moving to third on a single from freshman Angelique Serrano.
- Freshman Adriana Saab was hit by a pitch the following at bat, which loaded the bases for freshman Alex Burns, who drove in a run with a walk.
- Adelphi added a run in the top of the sixth on a single from Lombardi.
- The maroon and white left the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh after a singles from Burns and sophomore Courtney Greene and a walk to senior Kaitlyn Snyder, but were unable to knot the score.
- Burns went 2-for-3 for Molloy in the effort.
- Greene tossed five innings in the effort, allowing one run on one hit while striking out one.
Game 2: Molloy 7, Adelphi 6
- The Lions' offense went to work right away in the bottom of the first inning. Snyder singled to right field before being driven in on a double by Greene.
- Byrnes and freshman Amanda King recorded back-to-back singles to set the score at 2-0.
- The opening inning ended with a single from redshirt sophomore Mikaela Tribby to give the home team a three-run advantage.
- Molloy added two more runs in the bottom of the third on a wild pitch and a double from Tribby.
- Senior pitcher Jenna Turato tossed 4.1 perfect innings, allowing her first base runner in the top of the fifth. The Panthers scored on a double to right field to come within five.
- Adelphi added two runs in the top of the sixth inning on a home run by Nicoletta Cuccio.
- The maroon and white plated an insurance run in the home half of the inning on a single up the middle from King.
- A home run from Hannah Pineda and a double to Lauren O'Neill in the top of the seventh brought the Panthers within one, but sophomore Tonianne Larson was able to force the final three outs and secure the victory for the Lions.
- King and Tribby each recorded three hits and drove in two runs for the maroon and white. Byrnes went 3-for-3 on the evening.
- Turato struck out six batters, allowing just four hits and two earned runs through six innings of work. Larson added one strikeout in one inning of relief.

Molloy continues its eight-game home stand on Friday (Mar. 22) in a double header against Jefferson at 3:00 p.m.
