Uniondale, N.Y. – The Molloy baseball team defeated the Dominican Chargers, 10-6, Sunday afternoon at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex. The Lions improved to 3-9. The Chargers fell to 7-6.

How it Happened

• Freshman Chris Peralta grounded to short, which allowed sophomore James Messina to score, and junior Jake Saltzman hit a sacrifice fly, which scored sophomore Matt Overton, to put the Lions ahead 2-0 in the first.
• Redshirt freshman Thomas Brady scored Peralta on a ground out in the third, which increased Molloy's advantage to 3-0.
• The maroon and white tallied three runs in the fourth to make it 6-0. Peralta hit a two-RBI single to center, and Overton followed with an RBI double to right center.
• Senior Nick Marino blasted a two-RBI double to left center in the fifth to extend the Lions' lead to 8-0.
• Overton and senior Michael Wall drove in runs in the seventh and eighth innings to make it 10-0.
• Dominican scored six runs in the ninth.

Top Performances

• Peralta tallied one hit, scored two runs, and collected three RBIs.
• Marino went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
• Overton recorded one hit and drove in two runs.
• Junior Sean Hogan collected three hits.
• Redshirt junior Timothy Panetta struck out eight batters in 8.2 innings pitched to improve to 2-1 on the season.
