Garden City, N.Y. – Led by two goals from senior
Michael Scheuerer, the men's lacrosse team fell to top-ranked and undefeated Adelphi University, 14-6. The Lions fell to 1-4 with the loss.
How it Happened
- After 12 scoreless minutes of play, the Panthers found the back of the net first before junior Travis Cooksey knotted the score just 19 seconds later.
- Adelphi closed the opening quarter with a goal to take a 2-1 lead.
- Sophomore Jack Egan evened the score for the Lions to start the second quarter, but Adelphi responded with three unanswered goals to end the half with a 5-2 advantage.
- The streak continued with the Panthers scoring the first four goals of the third quarter, increasing its lead to 9-2.
- Scheuerer netted his first of the contest with 4:28 left in the frame, but a last-second goal from Adelphi set the score at 10-3 headed into the final 15 minutes of action.
- Junior Anthony Teresky cut the deficit to eight goals midway through the final frame, 12-4.
- The Panthers netted two additional goals before Scheuerer and senior Kevin Pastier ended the contest with back-to-back markers.
