Flushing, N.Y. - The women's basketball team fell to the Knights of Queens College, 57-47, this evening at Fitzgerald Gymnasium. Molloy fell to 9-17 on the season and 4-12 in East Coast Conference play with the loss.
How it Happened
- The Lions had a slow start to the contest, trailing 17-4 after 10 minutes of play.
- Molloy rallied back with a strong second quarter, cutting the deficit to single digits, 25-16, with 2:35 left to play in the first half.
- Queens led 29-22 at the break.
- A layup from sophomore Marthe Guirand and a three-pointer from fifth year Tyra Harrison brought the maroon and white back within two, 29-27, to open the second half of action.
- The Knights maintained its advantage, however, but strong shooting kept Molloy in the contest and set the score at 39-35 after three quarters.
- An early triple from sophomore Melody Prichard brought the Lions within three, 41-38, but the visitors were unable to overcome the early deficit, falling 57-47.
Top Performances
- Senior Ihnacinse Grady led the Lions with 13 points while adding four assists.
- Guriand and freshman Ellen Iversen each pulled down six rebounds and scored six points.
- Prichard netted eight points.
Looking Ahead
Molloy returns to action on Wednesday (Feb. 27) as they take on the Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia at 5:00 p.m. The team will recognize its two seniors in a pre-game ceremony.
