Grady Nets 21 Points in Victory Over Mercy

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. – The Molloy women's basketball team defeated the Mercy Mavericks, 60-48, Saturday afternoon at Victory Hall. The Lions improved to 9-16 overall and 4-11 in ECC play. Mercy fell to 4-20 overall and 1-13 in league play.

How it Happened

  • The Mavericks started with an early 6-5 advantage.
  • The Lions responded with a 12-2 run, sparked by five points from freshman Ellen Iversen, to go ahead 17-8.
  • Molloy led 19-11 after the first stanza.
  • Junior Kathryn Gibson made a jumper to increase the visitors' lead to 23-13.
  • Mercy netted the next five points to cut the maroon and white's lead to 23-18.
  • Later in the quarter, freshman Katie Marquardt hit a three-pointer and the away team led 31-21 at the half.
  • Iversen hit a triple to begin the third stanza to increase the Lions' advantage to 34-21.
  • The home team cut the lead to 38-29 with 5:01 left in the third frame.
  • Senior Ihnacinse Grady made a layup to increase Molloy's lead to 40-29.
  • Mercy shrunk the visitors lead to 43-35, but Iversen hit a three before the end of the quarter and the maroon and white led 46-35 after 30 minutes of play.
  • Molloy brought its lead to 14, 51-37, with 5:23 left, after Marquardt hit a pair of free throws leading the Lions to a 60-48 victory.
Top Performances
  • Grady tallied a game-high 21 points. The senior registered eight rebounds and six assists.
  • Iversen logged 13 points.
  • Sophomore Marthe Guirand registered 10 rebounds.

  • The maroon and white travels to play Queens Wednesday, February 20. Tip-off with the Knights is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
