Four Score in Double Digits in Women's Basketball's Win Over Roberts Wesleyan

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The Molloy women's basketball team defeated the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks, 78-56, Sunday afternoon at Quealy Gymnasium. The Lions improved to 8-15 overall and 3-10 in ECC play. The Redhawks fell to 9-13 overall and 5-7 in league play.

How it Happened
  • The Lions jumped out to a 12-4 advantage, led by four points from sophomore Melody Prichard and three-pointers from senior Ihnacinse Grady and redshirt senior Tyra Harrison.
  • Ahead 18-8, Molloy netted five straight points, a triple from Prichard and a layup from sophomore Marthe Guirand, to increase its lead to 23-8.
  • The home team led 25-12 at the end of the first frame.
  • The maroon and white scored the first four points of the second frame, on baskets from freshman Ellen Iversen and junior Kathryn Gibson, to make it a 29-12 game.
  • With the score 29-15, Harrison and Gibson hit back-to-back triples, to put the Lions, who started the contest 6-of-6 from three, up 35-15.
  • Molloy scored seven straight points, led by five points from Gibson, to increase its lead to 42-17.
  • The home team led 44-24 at the half.
  • Guirand hit a jump shot to give the Lions' their largest lead of the game, 27, 62-35.
  • Molloy led 64-37 after 30 minutes of play.

  • Gibson netted a game-high 16 points.
  • Harrison tallied 12 points.
  • Guirand recorded 10 points and seven rebounds.
  • Prichard logged 10 points.
  • Grady and junior Jenna Silletti registered eight points and seven assists.
  • Freshman Katie Marquardt scored a career-high eight points.
