Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The top-seeded volleyball team will host #4 Saint Anselm College this evening at 7:30 p.m. in Quealy Gymnasium for a chance to play in the NCAA East Regional Championship Game. The winner will take on the winner of #3 University of Bridgeport and ##7 Holy Family University on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Quealy Gymnasium.

Admission to the contest is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children. Molloy students with ID will be given free admission. 


Regarding the Lions

• Molloy enters tonight's contest with a 26-4 record, going undefeated (10-0) in East Coast Conference play. They were the first team to do so since 2014. Molloy's lone losses on the campaign were to teams competing in this year's NCAA Tournament.
• The Lions lost just one game on the floor of Quealy Gymnasium in 2019 and have been defeated only five times in the past three seasons. 
• The Lions defeated #8 Adelphi University last night, 3-1, to advance to the semifinal. Redshirt senior Carly Banks led with 16 kills, making her the program's all-time kill leader (1316). 
• Sophomore Kathleen Doherty and freshman Brynne Winkelman combined for seven aces in the contest.
• Junior Kacey Affrunti, the ECC and Division II Conference Commissioners Association East Regional Player of the Year, added 13 kills and four blocks.
• Affrunti leads the team in scoring with 334 kills and tops the nation in aces per set. 
• The maroon and white totaled five All-Conference awards, including sweeping Player of the Year (Affrunti), Setter of the Year (senior Sophia Smith), Libero of the Year (senior Jessica Fischetti), and Rookie of the Year (freshman Chye Davis). Head Coach Kevin DesLauriers was named Co-Coach of the Year. 
• Affrunti, Banks, Fischetti, and Smith also earned All-Region recognition through the D2CCA and/or the American Volleyball
• Coaches Association. 

Scouting the Hawks

• This is the fourth meeting between the Hawks and the Lions, with the most recent matchup coming in the 2017 NCAA East Regional Quarterfinal. 
• Molloy picked up the program's first victory over Saint Anselm for the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, coming back from a 2-0 deficit for the 3-2 win. The all-time record against Saint Anselm is 1-4.
• The Hawks are competing in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season, picking up the program's first-ever victory last night against #5 University of New Haven, 3-1.
• Senior Catie McCarthy and junior Elise Jolly topped the contest with 18 and 16 kills, respectively. 
• The Hawks totaled three All-NE10 selections, including McCarthy, the program's first First Team selection in program-history. The outside hitter was also recognized as All-Region by both the D2CCA and the AVCA. 
• The Hawks enter tonight's contest with a record of 21-11, including going 4-5 against NCAA East Regional Tournament teams.
