Four Score in Double Figures in Women's Basketball's Victory Over Dominican

Orangeburg, N.Y.  – The Molloy women's basketball team topped the Dominican Chargers, 73-55, Sunday afternoon at the Hennessy Center. The Lions improved to 6-2, while the Chargers fell to 3-4.

How it Happened
  • The Lions tallied six of the game's first eight points to take a 6-2 lead.
  • Junior Giolibeth Perez, who netted six points in the first quarter, made a layup to put Molloy ahead 17-13.
  • The Lions led 17-14 after the first frame.
  • With the score 20-18, Molloy went on a 9-0 rally, led by two three-pointer from sophomore Katie Marquardt, to make it a 29-18 contest.
  • The Chargers cut the lead to 35-31 with 1:54 left in the half.
  • Graduate student Robyn Francis made a jumper with 34 second remaining, and the road team led 37-31 at the break.
  • Senior Kathryn Gibson hit a triple to begin the third to increase the maroon and white's advantage to 40-31.
  • With the score 42-36, Molloy went on a 9-2 rally, sparked by five points from graduate student Kadijah Dickson, to increase its advantage to 51-38.
  • Junior Gabriella Aspuru made a layup to make it a 58-40 game, and the visitors led 58-42 after 30 minutes of play.
  • With the score 63-50, Perez and Francis recorded six consecutive points to bring Molloy's lead to 69-50.
  • Junior Mackenzie Burke hit a triple to give the Lions their biggest lead of the game 20, 73-53, with 1:25 left.
Top Performances
  • Dickson tallied a game-high 16 points, on 6-of-10 shooting, and nine rebounds.
  • Perez recorded 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
  • Junior Marthe Guirand registered a season-high 11 points and eight boards.
  • Francis added 10 points.
