Seafrod, N.Y. - The field hockey team stepped out of Northeast-10 Conference play this afternoon, hosting the Cobras of Coker University. Despite being tied headed into the final 15 minutes, the Lions were defeated, 3-2, and fell to 1-9 on the season.
How it Happened
- The Cobras struck first, scoring on a deflection off a penalty corner.
- Molloy knotted the contest in the 30th minute, as junior Nadia Elcock fed a feed to sophomore Kyra Dalli on the left side of the field. Dalli then fired a shot and beat the Cobra keeper left side to end the half with the teams tied, 1-1.
- Coker quickly regained its lead a little over one minute into the second half, once again finding the back of the net on a deflection.
- The Lions responded in the 39th minute. Sophomore Erin Tudryn tapped a pass off a penalty corner to junior Olympia Moulton, who found the back of the net to knot the score.
- The match was decided on a Cobra goal in the 50th minute, as the ball found the back of the net off a rebound.
Top Performances
- Moulton (1 G), Dalli (1 G), Tudryn (1 A), and Elcock (1 A) each registered a point for the maroon and white with Dalli leading the contest with six shots.
- Sophomore Lizzie Weiner added a defensive save in the effort.
- Freshman Ava Quick made eight saves in net.
