Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy women's soccer team defeated the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field on senior day. The Lions improved to 7-3-1 overall and 2-2 in ECC play. The Spartans fell to 0-9-1 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play.

How it Happened

• Sophomore Sabrina Bell sent a free kick, which was stopped, towards the net in the 17^th minute.
• The Spartans created chances in the 27^th and 40^th minutes, but junior Jackie Carty was able to deny the opportunities.
• In the 45^th minute, junior Dana Poetzsch converted on a penalty kick to put Molloy ahead 1-0.
• The Lions added to their lead in the 66^th minute. Junior Jessica Mauro led Lexi Verni on a break for a goal.
• 56 seconds later, Poetzsch scored on a breakaway, which was started by a pass from Carty.
• The maroon and white's defense kept STAC off the board to complete a 3-0 victory.

Top Performances

• Poetzsch netted two goals. The junior has five multi-goal contests and leads the team in goals (15) and points (33).
• Verni recorded her fourth goal of the season.
• Mauro tallied her first assist of the season.
• Carty made three saves for her sixth shutout of 2019 and registered her first career assist.
